Maxx Group is a privately held, independent insurance brokerage headquartered in Crestwood, Illinois. We serve businesses, families, labor unions, and public institutions across the state and the country.
Our story
A simple premise.
Maxx Group was founded on a simple premise: that the businesses other brokers find too complicated, too risky, or too small to bother with deserve better representation. Forty years later, we still believe it.
We are independent. We work for our clients, not for a carrier. Every program we place is shopped across the market, structured around the realities of the business, and stood by when something happens.

Managing Member
Larry Hackett
Larry brings nearly three decades of commercial insurance experience to Maxx Group. He spent fourteen years as a top producer at a multi-line independent agency before serving 15 years as Chief Operating Officer at PalletMaxx, where he led operations and developed deep expertise in pallet and wood manufacturing risk.
He leads the firm's business and commercial practice with a hands-on approach to every renewal. His specialties include the industries that require real underwriting expertise: pallet and wood manufacturing, restaurants, and contractors.
Managing Member, CPA
Carl Cozen
Carl holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant. He spent seven years running a captive agency before founding his independent brokerage in 2004 and joining forces with Larry to form Maxx Group in 2019.
His financial discipline gives clients an advantage other brokers can't match. Layered programs structured with the precision of a CPA, careful attention to coverage gaps, and the kind of analytic rigor commercial property and construction businesses depend on.

Lori provides decades of experience and expertise as an Account Executive. Proficient in all stages of the client experience, Lori boasts a thorough understanding of our insurance markets and coverage.

Stacy Widelski
Stacy brings a professional, organized approach to servicing personal insurance clients. Stacy handles day to day servicing needs, as well as marketing clients with our numerous insurance companies to find a proper fit.
Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist, CLCS
Matthew Dilger
Matt recently earned his Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation from The Hartford School of Business. Matt focuses on our commercial clients, assisting with the marketing, presentation, and issuance of new business, along with servicing existing accounts.
